Google Earth

Google Earth is a computer program that renders a 3D representation of Earth based on satellite imagery. The program maps the Earth by superimposing satellite images, aerial photography, and GIS data onto a 3D globe, allowing users to see cities and landscapes from various angles. Google Fit

Google fit used on the phone is pretty useful if you want to just change your sedentary lifestyle and get onto the 10000 steps a day program (which I must confess is tougher than it sounds for an average officegoer like me) It’s the biggest advantage is that it is tracking you most of the time without you doing ANYTHING. It then subtly gamifies things by telling you stats like “you are more active than 64% of Bengaluru”. Overall, it does the job. Also, it is improving rapidly.

On step count and measuring walking it is very very good. On running also it works well. Where it gives trouble however is when you are driving slowly. It tends to classify that as a bike ride often and that is irritating. Using specialised devices – from pedometers to activity bands to GPS watches is obviously more accurate as a general rule. Unless you are a performance-focused athlete, however, Google Fit works well enough. For my money, I think 98% of people should just get the Google Fit and only 2% (runners and athletes in general who need precision measurement) should go straight to high-end GPS + heart rate devices.
